Flat Lapping

Lapping: Is able to hold tight tolerances and can be used as a “First off” from initial machining of castings to give a datum for more conventional machining. Lapping may also be used for intermediate or finishing processes. Our experienced machine operators work a comprehensive range of both single and double sided lapping machines enabling us to process a variety of materials ensuring flatness and parallelism of both faces and size variations per batch within 5 microns.

We lap and fine grind a variety of materials including aluminium, bakelite, ferrous and non ferrous metals, ceramics, glass, and rubber composites, gold, tungsten, titanium, graphite composites and sintered glass.. We offer our customers a complete package on parts that require flatness, parallelism and surface finishes to very tight tolerances.

Cylinder Head Lapping (which surpasses milling or planing) We offer a very competative service which is ideal for cylinder heads which have hard metal inserts. We can cater for up to 6 cylinder in line heads (car and commercial).   Prices start at £25 for a 24 hour process service.	Before Lapping
